College Board Pre-AP

Falcon Bluffs Middle School uses College Board resources for our English Language Arts and Algebra courses. College Board provides research-based resources that offer a rich and robust learning resource that enables all students to learn, grow and succeed.

SpringBoard ELA

The SpringBoard resource looks at learning differently by:

  • Asking higher-level questions and providing higher-level responses
  • Reading more challenging texts
  • Writing at a higher level, more in-depth
  • Integrating technology into learning
  • Working collaboratively with your peers
  • Using AP Strategies (emphasis on application & synthesis of texts)
  • Offers multiple entry levels for all types of learners

Pre-AP Algebra 1

The Pre-AP Algebra 1 course is designed to deepen students’ understanding of linear relationships by emphasizing patterns of change, multiple representations of functions and equations, modeling real-world scenarios with functions, and methods for finding and representing solutions of equations and inequalities.

These ideas provide a powerful set of conceptual tools that students can use to make sense of their world through mathematics.   Students will use the following mathematics areas of focus to build their mathematical practices:

  • Application and Modeling
  • Engagement in Mathematical Argument
  • Connection of Multiple Representations
